hey everyone. i was the one who started this thread and i got waitlisted as well. does anyone have any advice on anything i can do to improve my chances? thanx.

yeah I'd like to know as well.

They admit about 330 students, that's pretty good. The acceptance rate is about 33%. It's not entirely favorable to the applicant, but it gives elbow room.

::Crossing Fingers:: The letter didn't come in the mail today. Monday is looking pretty promising. ;)

i just got the notice in the mail today. got into wharton, university of pennsylvania. dont be fooled by a thin envelope, it could still be an acceptance letter.
GPA: 3.75
SAT: CR-660, Math-700, Writing-650
anyone else going to wharton, congratulations and i'll see you there!!

I wanted to go to Wharton so bad (it was my #1 choice.) You're so lucky!

Don't give up just yet. The cost totals $1000 for Wharton,( $750 LEAD + $250 Wharton activity fee. Lots of field trips.) not including airfare. It wouldn't be that surprising if an acceptee or two decide that they dont want to pay that much or have conflicting schedules (July 5 - Aug 3). I also noticed that the U of Minnesota wasn't on the letter as a LEAD School anymore. Thats 30 less slots. Stay realistically positive!

Haha I am. I'm an optimistic guy =P

Got into Dartmouth. I don't recall putting Dartmouth on my top 5, but then again I rushed the application a week after the supposed deadline hahahah. I'm just happy I got in. Cheers.

Is there an alumni forum? I heard about it on the website? Ask a few questions about it hahahah.

As for the fee thing, ouch ya. I didn't know there was an $250 activity fee, that might cause a few people to reconsider. Keep your hopes up guys.

Did anyone from CA get a letter?

I got waitlisted.

I wrote my essay at midnight. Of course I didn't get in. -_-

Anyway, do you guys know the ethnic percentages of people let in?

I know LEAD likes to emphasize certain races, and I just wanted to know whether me being Asian was a huge factor, or whether I just had really really really bad essays (because they certainly were!).

I think being asian was a factor which worked against us. I'm Indian and someone else here who is asian, as well as you, were all waitlisted. Has anyone here, who is asian, actually been accepted into the LEAD program?

yeah...i applied to the upenn one...we'll see if i get in...

Jazzy1 I got into Wharton && my name's Jasmine too, lol. I'm super excited but to everyone else um here were my stats:

Black
Female
FL
4.3 GPA
29 ACT
199 PSAT

My 5 picks: 1-Stanford 2-UPenn 3-UMichigan 4-Duke 5-Northwestern

I don't know if my recs were all that amazing, I mean I had my English teacher write it. I did my essay like the night before about YouTube being forced to yank its videos off because of Viacom and how they should come to a distribution agreement. My leadership essay was about me providing free tutoring in my neighborhood for kids in elementary school taking the FCAT (florida comprehensive assessment test) and their increase in scores, etc.

To anyone who got in myspace me: myspace.com/jazzyxfresh

oh and don't freak out about not receiving it yet. I thought i wasn't in, cuz i hadn't received the letter by last week. But today I came back from atlanta and it came in the mail

Another day, another false lead. I really thought the decision would arrive today. Tomorrow then....

did you call them?

I did and all I got was voicemail- probably on vacation for Easter.

I called them some days ago. They had not decided. The conversation was promising, but a matter such as this could not be left to chance. That I would assume my acceptance based on a "good feeling" was giving room for disappointment. Had I a letter, something official, I could regain some semblance of sanity. Calling them today would overdo it. I must oblige to the waiting game.

True. Or maybe e-mail Ayanna Dewer she's the program director and super nice. I e-mailed her earlier when I was applying to find out the different dates for the different schools and she was always prompt in returning my e-mails.

finally recieved word via mail- thin envelope containing acceptance into Wharton YIPEE!!

official acceptance letter hasn't arrived yet for me
funny, considering I am in NC
and aren't you in CA Tubbz?

maybe more ppl at the post office get Easter off cause this is the Bible Beltway ya kno

I just realized that extrapolation is my calling--just kidding
