I am currently a jr. in high school. I have been working towards applying for the USNA and am fairly strong academically. However, I am lacking in leadership positions (there are no clubs or student council at my school and captainships in sports are only filled by seniors). Could someone give me some suggestions?
Thank you!

JROTC!!! lol, volunteer work, rec leagues and the likes

how about coaching for Special Olympics?
is there any school or community project you can organize?
how about leading a class project with other students?
boys or girls state?
sea cadets?

leadership can be demonstrated in many ways-
seek out opportunities!

or make your own opportunity! No clubs at your school? how about organizing one? Build it around a needed and "good cause" and see how far you can get it! Can be anything- heck, organize some students to walk the dogs of local elderly persons in your community or church-or collecting books or a sock campaign for a local vets hospital- or walter reed- or organizing a toys-for-tots at your school or church- or perhaps organizing a math club at your school- or a study group- plan it, organize it, get it off the ground- all great demonstrations of leadership! So have fun with it- and you just might find the experience very, very rewarding!
