My issue is that I haven’t fully internalized the fact that the world doesn’t owe me anything. I seem to always think deep down that if I work as hard as I can, then I will achieve success. However, I have failed many times despite having tried my hardest. I guess that my inability to internalize the realization that my hard work does not guarantee success displays either my immaturity or my inability to learn from failure. Either way, if all of this is part of some big plan, then I might want to have a word with the planner.
That’s exactly how I feel too!! With where I come from I feel like I’ve worked harder than anybody and that I deserve, not to be given success but become successful at whatever it is because I give my absolute all to any and everything. I can’t say if it’s immaturity or what but probably just a facet of our upbringing.
Any news?
@shanabanana1 nope
@shanabanana1 I got an email from Sayra saying we would all hear by this Friday… I don’t know what to do because I got a full ride to Yale Young Global Scholars, but I have to respond by April 14th. I wish they would extend it just a few days more.
Does anyone think that if I back out of Yale Young Global scholars, I would get a reduced chance of admission at Yale? Would they keep that in mind?
When did Sayra email you? @Ahmeda14960
I don’t think it would decrease your chances of getting into Yale. However, I can’t really be sure. You want to go to Yale too? That’s my dream school.
You should’ve applied to the yale young scholars program! @shanabanana1
@ConfusedContent I don’t think I’d get a scholarship sufficient enough to pay for it.
@Ahmeda14960 Did she mean that we’d hear final decisions by then or that we’d get our interview emails? Obviously, since you’ve already gotten your interview, it’s probably for final decisions but I’m asking just in case.
She meant final decisions @shanabanana1 and Sayra said quote
"Hi Ahmed,
We will be doing rolling admissions. We hope to finish notifying everyone by next Friday, I believe.
Best,
Sayra"
She said that on April 1st
Ok. I guess I can expect rejection.
@shanabanana1 The tweet that you found was sent out later than Sayra responded to me. That and she said “I, believe” which pretty much guarantees that she wasn’t 100% sure, so I don’t think that you should be worried yet.
@shanabanana1 Don’s say that, I didn’t get my interview until last Tuesday at 4:00 PST and I got in three days later
I just don’t see why there’s so much confusion… The suspense is horrible
Was that tweet from April 1st as well??
@Lakerdrop24 Yeah. The tweet was posted on April 1st.
@smarttaytay One of the Cohort 10 members had stated that LEDA needed 50 more applicants, since they have the first 50, who were notified last Friday.
They’ve already notified half of the cohort. However, that doesn’t mean that they need 50 more applicants. They just need to finish reviewing and making decisions regarding the applicants they already have.
