@miamigirl0202 What exact date is it?
@AspireandDream No one knows. On last year’s forum, people received acceptances/notification of making it to the next round on different days.
@AspireandDream
From what I read on last year’s forum, they let people know as they make the decision in January and February. They do this so that they can get all of the interviews in and so that the process is more efficient. If they waited and released it all at once on, for example February 15, then they’d have to schedule about 300 interviews between then and like April 1.On the other hand, if they start notifying some of the people who got in earlier, then they have a larger window to interview people and make a decision.
@CIRCUITDEBATER I thought they only interviewed about 125 students?
They interview about 20% of applicants. Last year’s final acceptance rate was about 7.6% which means that about a third of those that make the interview get in the program. -LEDA Cohort 12 Member
They also stagger things out but only by a few days. Final decisions were released on April 1st, 4th, and 7th for instance.
@danieljg511 , Thank you for the clarification!
So did you get an email when you submitted?
@CIRCUITDEBATER Thanks!
lol I didn’t know the acceptance rate was that low …they reject so many
@danieljg511 What’s the hardest stage to progress through? My understanding of the stages is as follows
Stage 1: The Application that we just submitted
Stage 2: Tax Returns and SAT/ACT Scores
Stage 3: Interview
Also, do you stay in constant contact with LEDA members after you return home to work on college apps, essays, etc?

Check this website out. Its the 2015-2016 LEDA Application page and it has a breakdown of the application process. I’m sure it’s very similar to this year’s application process.
I don’t understand why they wanted pictures though…
@arinuma Most likely to put a face to a name. Its easier to make associations and connections when you have a visual of someone. Also, maybe to confirm we are who say we are. I wouldn’t worry all that much about it though. What kind of photo of yourself did you submit? I submitted a photo of myself in debate tournament attire.
@CIRCUITDEBATER A very informal one. I was dressed formally, but I was laughing too hard to be taken seriously. Sometimes I feel like tht they will build up stories upon our appearances and that’s not sounding too good to me.
I submitted a picture of myself in my traditional clothing after competing in a cultural pageant.
@aspiringgirl Yeah I was wearing traditional clothes as well, it was after Eid, one of the holidays we celebrate.
This waiting game is endless and it’s only been a few days lol
IKR!!! @AspireandDream
This is the second thing that I have to wait until February for.
What’s the other thing @aspiringgirl ?
