Reading through a few threads it sounds like there is less merit $ offers from UDel (as well as other colleges previously known for merit $) then years past.

Can anyone confirm? Or care to post your $ offers w/ stats?

Has the economy killed the tradition?
Thanks!

My D didn’t receive any merit $, but several of her friends did in the $5K-$9K range. She’s attending; none of her friends who were offered $ are enrolling.

I know someone in my town who just this past week received more money. Maybe as people decline, the money that is not accepted will be offered to other students.

Mattmoosemom -
Had that person from your town already responded to UDel that he was going to attend?

I believe he did not tell them that he was attending yet. That could make a difference.

My D got an email about a week(ish) or so ago adding work study to her package. Nice surprise. She paid her deposit about a week before that.

D did get merit $ from UDel. @livinginNJ: careful…if you live in NJ, the state budget for education got chopped a lot. Blounstein DS awards may get the axe (DS awards were supposed to be merit).
D got a lot for NJ in state but decided on UDel. Be careful when comparing merit $ between state schools.
