Negotiating Merit Aid with UD

My OOS daughter received 10,000 a year from UD, but received 18,000 from Ohio State and the OOS costs are less at OSU, making a pretty big swing. Does anyone know if UD ever bumps up merit aid if students are receiving better deals elsewhere?

I am not saying it has never happened but I do not recall over the last 4 years of anyone on these boards from OOS successfully appealing their merit award. You could always call and ask. Please let us know what you are told if you do so.

My D is a junior at UDel. She received 6,00/year merit. She had received more from Towson but did not want to go there. My husband called and spoke to someone but they told him that they would not change the offer. My daughter then wrote a gut wrenching e-mail to plead her case and really poured it on about how much she really wanted to go to UDel but her parents are not sure now because of the cost. She got a very nice e-mail back wishing her good luck in whatever she decides but they could not give her more money.

Thanks for the replies, I had a feeling UD wasn’t going to budge. She is leaning Ohio State anyway, but UD may have been tempting if the price was right.
