ED History Update: The class of 2012 was notified on December 13; the class of 2013 was notified on December 12 while the class of 2016 was notified on December 17. Most likely due to the extended deadline, notification will unfortunately be on the later side this year.

You’re most likely right, unfortunately. But still, they promised by the 16th so I’m sure it will be no later than then. Or at least I hope!

Don’t judge me, it’s a 3.42. I really screwed up my first two years of high school (I liked to procrastinate and never studied for a single test). I LOL at frosh and Soph years.
GO BIOE! :)

A 3.42 is not bad haha! But yes, my first two years were horrible… Freshman year I wasn’t in a single school club and had probably a 3.2, but now I learned how to procrastinate proficiently! The key is you need to learn what classes you can do the next periods homework in, then you’re good to go.

On a side note, what do you plan on doing with that BioE degree? For me, it’s just something to do while preparing for med school, but there are so many awesome careers that can come out of it so even if I don’t get into med school I’ll always have BioE to fall back on.

Yeah basically I just got better at procrastinating. Now I have a part time job (two or three nights weekly and weekends), so I’m learning to be more effective.

That’s exactly why I was doing bioE. Originally when I got to my latter high school years, I was set on biology or neuroscience and then applying to med school, but I’ve basically decided that I’ll do the pre med requisites and apply to med school, but if I dont get in… I’ll just do bioengineering as my career(biomedical concentration in tissue probably…)
:D

Awesome! I’m guessing we’re going to get to know each other, then! Only 10 more days to be sure…

i applied ed but i already know im getting in because i got recruited for a sport, but im still waiting for the acceptance so i can finally update my facebook status! good luck everyone! i hope you all get in! GO MOUNTAIN HAWKS

Lucky you, congratulations! What sport? And what major?

So is anyone going to be a Business Major?

Im applying as a business major!

FYI…This old article explains why your chances of acceptance are more favorable when going ED.

"In the latest 2011 edition from U.S. News & World Report’s list of Top 10 Toughest National Universities Where Applying Early Helps You Most, Lehigh placed first.
According to the report, Lehigh’s acceptance rate for students who apply early is 60 percent, while the percentage of students who get accepted during the regular application process, is only 34 percent, almost a 30 percent difference, though out of different pools of students.
“[The statistic] is misleading,” said J. Leon Washington, dean of Admissions and Financial Aid. “What makes it misleading is the statistic makes it look like 60 percent of the class that the college took is accepted, which isn’t the case. Only 60 percent of the early decision applicants are accepted. The numbers are right, so it’s accurate, but it’s misleading.”
“The early decision pool applicants are the ones who say, ‘I want you and if you accept me, I’ll come,’ ” he said. “So, naturally you want those people because they want you. The early decision pool is a separate applicant pool, so, naturally, you’re going to take more of those people since they are your shoe-ins. That’s what we like.”

I’m so nervous for all of you and am hoping you are all accepted! I remember how stressful it was for my son, he was denied at his ED school, Cornell, and then at Johns Hopkins BME and Dartmouth. He was so upset and stunned as he had the numbers for all. I can tell you from experience that if you do not get into your top choice, it is not the end of the world. He ended up at Lehigh and could not be happier! He has done amazingly well, and you will all do well where ever you end up also!

Good luck!

WaitingDad,

Thanks for the article! It makes a lot of sense when you really think about the goal of the admissions people. 60% still scares me though!

Mumof2boyz,

Thanks for the thoughts! I really wish we could all just get into Lehigh, too. For what it’s worth, the schools that you son got denied at are schools where stats mean very little. I’m sure he’s smart enough and dedicated enough to get into any of them (even BME at Hopkins which is BEYOND selective), but the virtual randomness of their acceptances just didn’t work in his favor that time. Hopefully he’s even happier at Lehigh!

I’m an international student - applied ED for Business Economics/Finance
I honestly dont think I’ll be accepted though, my SATs are not that great. It was my first time to take it on October and our school doesnt exactly prepare us for the test since its uncommon for someone to apply abroad. I dont go to a international school which has IB/AP or follows the american education system, i go to nationally recognized private school for girls only. And I couldn’t take the SAT again cause all the slots for November and December in the place I live in were full already.
But everything else in my app is amazing - I have a golden list of extracurriculars with lots of community service and leadership positions and my GPA/Class rank are great too. I think my recomms and essays are good too. I’m honestly really so scared I just wanna know if my predictions are right!! Plus I’m asking for financial aid and given that my SATs are nowhere near stellar, i’m just really hoping for the best but expecting for the worst.

I checked the portal today, a fews day ago it used to say something like “Decisions for Early Decision I will be posted here at December 16.”
But now it says “Decisions for Early Decision I will be posted here in mid-December 2012”
Does that mean that it might not be mailed at December 16? Maybe like last year, it will keep getting pushed back? Does anyone have info on this like if maybe someone emailed the school regarding when the decisions will actually be mailed?

Awwwwww… I just checked and you’re right! But, maybe they mean it can be before the 16th also? If it keeps getting pushed back I’ll go crazy! When I emailed admissions about two weeks ago they said they have no plans on pushing back the decision day so hopefully they moved it forward!

And about your first post, don’t worry. If your school doesn’t offer AP than you won’t be penalized for not taking any. I’m sure your other stats are fine! Lehigh would never deny you for just one thing like that.

How do you get your User ID and password for the portal? I applied ED and have no clue what mine is

Just kidding, i realized i got an email a while ago and just didn’t notice it

I check it everyday hoping they may put it up earlier. Good luck to everyone :)

My brother who went to Lehigh says that they send you an email like 2 days before that tells you the date and time that you can see on your portal your admissions decision
