Less Intense Summer Programs?

Um, hi everyone (this is my first time posting so I apologize for any etiquette breaches). Does anyone know of some summer programs (preferably 6+ weeks) that are academic, but not extremely intense? I'm interested in the sciences and business, and a lot of the programs I've looked at seem extremely intense and competitive. I'm applying to a couple of those (Jackson Lab in Maine and the Summer Program for Math and Science at Carnegie), but I still want my summer to be relaxing, and attend some program that allows for a bit more free time (however, I'm not interested in any of the programs that basically amount to "attend college at X university for 6 weeks and get course credits!"). I've seen many other people post their info when asking for suggestions, so I guess I'll do the same:
Basic info: white female, high school junior, Boston suburbs, Jewish
GPA: not totally sure...probably around 3.8 unweighted
SATs: 2190, PSAT: 222
Interested in science (especially chem and bio) or business programs
Any low-cost programs would be greatly appreciated, since my family doesn't have a lot of extra money (I think I count as ED for most places).
Thank you for reading, I hope I did this whole posting thing correctly :)

Welcome to CC!

Most science programs I know of are pretty competitive, but local universities and national laboratories usually have less-competitive programs that offer some financial aid.
As for business, the first two that come to mind are LAUNCH[/url”>http://www.launchsummer.org/]LAUNCH (hosted at MIT) and HOBY[/url”>http://www.hoby.org/]HOBY. HOBY isn’t so much a business program as it is a leadership program, but leadership is kind of something that goes hand-in-hand with business.

Both of them have hefty price tags, but are supposed to offer good financial aid.

A girl I know actually did the Jackson Lab program and she said it was the best experience of her life. (:

YES. The bridge program in math & science at sewanee: the university of the south. I went this past summer and it was the best three weeks of my life thus far. Strongly recommend

(Also the bridge program is all expenses paid for so It’s very selective)

There’s COSMOS in California, but since you are out of state it might be a bit expensive($6000).

My Jewish Boston area daughter enjoyed Michigan Math and Science Scholars.

Worthwhile, but not intense.
