Letter from Dean

Does anyone know if Lehigh sends out likely letters? I just got an e-mail from the dean of CAS praising my application and offering help in my college decisions. I'm not sure if this is like a likely letter, as I never heard Lehigh sending likely letters out.

Yup, my son received two such emails and was given the Dean’s Scholarship and admitted into the Eckardt scholars program. I would consider it a “likely letter” and that perhaps you are being considered for a merit incentive. Congratulations.

If this is not a likely letter , I think a denial would be cruel!

I received one of those yesterday as well. I think it is a likely letter because calling someone a ‘strong candidate’ and then denying them is pretty mean.

It is a wonderful opportunity to ask any major questions you have about Lehigh. These emails mean they really want you to come to Lehigh! Congratulations!

sounds like a “likely letter” to me

congratulations!

Yup, my S received a like letter on Friday. They basically stated that they were impressed with his application.

I got the invitation letter to Diversity Weekend…but I did not receive any email yet…
Is this email only for CAS applicant?

TmXie - Emails are only sent out to a very few applicants and come from every department. Not receiving an email does not mean you will not be admitted. Your invitation to Diversity weekend also means that you are a likely admit.

@mumof2boyz:
Thanks…So basically… the likely email > the invitation letter > nothing…

The likely email means you are likely accepted and the invitation to diversity weekend means you are likely accepted. If you did not get either, however, it does not mean you will not be accepted. Both go to a very small percentage of students.

To second Mumof2boyz, likely letters are sent to those who are being considered for the merit scholarships and can be construed as early acceptances. Diversity weekend invitations are similar; it means that you are among the strongest minority applicants and that Lehigh would like the opportunity to show you how it supports diversity in general and you in particular.

If you did not get one of these two letters, it means nothing.
