Okay so, I am an international student applying for 2017 entry. I am considering several Ivies, and UPenn wasn’t one of them till I received a letter and university prospectus from them. I sat both ACT and new SAT (didn’t do exceptionally, 33 and 1480), shared my info (including extracurriculars that I was told were very impressive) with a few websites that connect students to universities, but definitely didn’t expect to receive something from any university by post (I did get many emails from many places, but I assume that they are being sent to many people). Is this normal for UPenn and I am just simply reading too much to it, or does it actually mean that they are interested?
I received a letter from UPenn as well. My stats aren’t that great either and I have gotten letters from Stanford, Harvard, and Yale as well. I would assume they are just sending out advertising and want to get you to apply (those application fees are a lot of money!). I wouldn’t buy much into it.
Nope, it doesn’t mean anything.
Cool, thanks guys. I needed to hear that before I got my hopes up or whatever. Cheers!
@leksihoney I would say is it just advertising, albeit targeted advertising to people who have he potential for admission. Like I doubt they would send that to a student with a 1200 SAT. That said this does not mean they really want you. Look into Penn and if you find that it interests you then apply, if not then don’t. But do not apply thinking that they really want you because of this letter, it is just advertising or as they call it “outreach efforts” to students that based on their scores are feasible for admission.
