Letters from Alumni

Hi. Was just wondering. Would an additional letter of recommendation for a deferred candidate from an alumni help at all??????

They say it usually doesn't help. But I think my guidance counselor sent in extra, anyway.

by "they," I meant the adcoms.

Maybe if the particular alumnus had some nice Princeton connections. Then, they could pull some strings in the admissions office. Otherwise, I'd have to say that teacher and counselor recommendations are going to carry a lot more weight. I wouldn't discourage the deferred candidate from sending it in, but I'm just not sure it would help. I'm not sure it would even act as a tip factor.

What about letters from say, the Superintendant of Schools and the HS Principal. Would those work?

Considering that almost all international students do submit principal's recommendation, I wouldn't think a principal rec will be THAT much of an influence even for US applicants... my 2cents

I think a call is the best medicine, if one of those people is willing to make the effort for ya.
