letters going out the 16th

For RD last year, S's fat envelope was sent regular mail.

debunking the myths..i thank the heavens for the parents who comment on cc. haha, because i'm thinking that if they're mailing on friday..and i live in texas..and i don't get it by saturday i should still be fine right? it'll probably reach on monday?

internationals are even sadder. don't get it by tuesday and you're 99% not accepted. (i say 99 because of lost mail, nuclear disaster, etc)

to "Thatindiandude",
It really depends on where you live in Texas, meaning city, suburban, or rural.

Since I live in a township, not a city, I usually get my mail one or two days later than people who live near me (like a mile away), but actually in a city. Lazy postmen!

That means I'll probably get my letter on Monday at the earliest, and I'm expecting it Tuesday.

If you live all the way in Texas, don't expect it on Saturday. I would conjecture Monday (MAYBE Tuesday, but I'm not 100%, cause I'm not a mail man or anything).

Sorry I can't give you a more exact day/time. I even tried looking on the USPS website and I couldn't find delivery time.

Best wishes,
Genevieve

i want my letter now! :(

Banedon, I believe they're emailing internationals...or not?

nah, can't be.

Admissions Note:

Please note: early action decisions will be mailed on December 16. As always, we will not give out decisions by email, online, or by phone.

But hey,

"...it is not possible to learn admissions decisions over the telephone or via the Internet. All offers of admission made to applicants abroad are sent by couriered mail. Notifications of other decisions may be sent initially through e-mail; however this electronic notification is always followed by an official letter sent by post."

i'm pretty sure that they overnight acceptance letters and mail rejection letters regular which means that the longer you have to wait for your letter, the more likely it is that you have been rejected

I pulled up last year's EA thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=17680&page=3&pp=20&highlight=decisions

From the look of this thread, there really doesn't seem to be any indication that those who were accepted were notified before those who were deferred or rejected. The accepted and deferred notifications seem to be pretty random. So no one should sweat it if their decision doesn't get here till early next week.

We are from Texas, and son isn't expecting to hear till Monday or Tuesday.

Just wanted to say good luck to everyone who has applied. I hope it works out well.

Last year's acceptances (RD) were regular post for the States. My son's arrived a day sooner than I estimated - nice surprise for him when he got to the mailbox.

You guys dont need to be so worried about when your letters will come because really it doesnt matter (it isnt going to change what the letter says) and you are hearing WAY earlier than RD people.

Now...I think that I got mine on the day they said they were sending them out (which means they were sent before that) but chicago->minneapolis mail is pretty quick. As to why they dont do electronic decisions: look at all of the other schools that have had serious problems with electronic decisions. As an application that is going to get a few thousand uses over a several week period, there isnt much incentive to develop very nice and secure systems. Besides...the fat envelopes they send out are BEAUTIFUL. They are printed on expensive cardstock and all embossed/cut/folded into a very impressive little packet. It sure beats the hell out of an email with a picture or flash movie of some fireworks and the word congratulations (cough harvard *cough)

Apparently they've already mailed!

"We mailed our Early Action decisions on December 15. Please remember that we do not give out decisions online or on the phone."

Good luck everyone!

What, where does it say this?

You better not be joking!!!

Yeah, seriously, where!?!?

http://collegeadmissions.uchicago.edu/

yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

So is it the 16th or the 15th? And I live in texas, so when will it reach here??!!

They were apparently mailed today (the 15th).

Well, they certainly wrote it small enough!

If you can't find it, hit ctrl+f and type in "15". That's how I found it.
