I'm looking for liberal arts colleges strong in film studies or film making.
I heard Wesleyan and Bard are strong in film but I wonder that these schools
can actually help me to be a film director.
I mean, can these schools offer technical support like lending cameras or offering editing tool??

If you want everything you could possibly have, I recommend NYU Tisch.

Chapman University in Orange, CA. Hands-on education in film-making.

Dodge College of Film and Media Arts at Chapman University

Look at their websites and then call them up on the phone, or e-mail them, and speak to the people there to find out what resources are available. Ask them what their film graduates do after graduation. That's the best way of doing it.

In the LA area also check out Loyola Marymount besides Chapman if you want an alternative to USC or UCLA. In the east also look at the film programs at Vassar and Middlebury. Let me add something someone told me when we were looking for film schools for my son. This person located in California said: "If you are not in LA, you are not in the business."

Northwestern. It's not a LAC; but it's a mid-size U and the film department is in the school of communications with small student:faculty ratio.

Vassar.10 chars
