Liberal Studies Core to Tisch Film

S was accepted to Liberal Studies with guaranty transfer to Tisch after one year. Can anyone share their experiences about this? He’ll get to fulfill most of his Gen Ed requirements in that first year but he’ll also miss out on the required Freshman classes at Kanbar – although I do think he has a good amount of film experience so maybe that would be ok. Looking for any comments and advice from those who know about this track. I’d also like to hear views about the Freshman year classes for film students.

@DunkinsMama Hmm… My son applied to Tisch (musical theater) and was accepted into Liberal Studies Core Program (no guaranteed transfer to Tisch). His letter said that after two years of successful completion, he can declare a major. I’d like to hear others’ experiences about this, too. You’re right, they’ll fulfill Gen Eds, which is fine for going into a major within College of Arts and Science or something. But what about the audition-based schools? Should my son attend NYU, he is most interested in Steinhardt for Music Composition (with concentration on film scoring). But wondering if he really has to wait two years to enter (if accepted) or if he can apply right away to enter his sophomore year… questions, question…
