Life After Admission: What to do and how to prep for an optimal fall 2016 transfer

Hey guys! If you interested in joining a facebook group for UCI Fall 2016 transfer, feel free to search up “UC Irvine Fall 2016 Transfer Students”

It was recently made @BackNSchool83 for all of those admitted to connect with each other via facebook with any questions or concerns about the upcoming school year at UCI. Please let others know as it would be great for our Fall 2016 transfer cohort to connect and support one another during our transition.

Thanks all and once again, congrats to everyone!

@BackNSchool83 I found the Facebook page and tried to join but it wouldn’t let me.

@BackNSchool83 Nevermind, figured it out!

I joined the group

I added the group too!

Just got the housing offer today. Anyone else lives in VDC Norte?

Sweet, just added you guys! Let others know as well if you can!

I would if I knew anyone going to this school XD

@errorthirtyseven haha true… the struggle for transfers is real!

Hopefully others on this board will find out!

Well since I graduated high school in 2011 most people I know transferred already, graduated already, or will perpetually attend CC until they inevitably drop out (if they haven’t already done that). I’m sure people from the board will find out who knows if they’ll take the time to join though.

Facebook is being such a pain. Tried linking up my UCI email and the confirmation email they sent me with the link and code didn’t work. Now it temporarily blocked me from adding that email because I tried too many times. It’s been like this for more than a day. Ah well I guess I have to wait so I can join the group.

@RangoJackson Sorry to hear about that :frowning: If you would like, pm me your name and I will add you.

I got my housing offer but it’s kinda expensive because I thought I would get to choose the different floor plans displayed on the VDCN website. Do you guys think I can call and ask for a different floor plan? Or how does this work?

@E2DuhJ All good now facebook finally worked. Thanks.

Need some help!
Psych and Social Behavior Major

Conditionally accepted through TAG. My spring 2016 grades show that I have 3 As and 1 D. The D is in Psychology 120 Research Methods. My overall transfer gpa is still above a 3.4 (around 3.7) and my gpa in my last term is above 2.0. On assist.org, it said that Psychology 120 was not required prior to transfer, however I decided to take it anyways. Does anyone have any idea how it would affect my conditional admission? I have already contacted my admissions counselor, but it would be helpful to know some information as soon as possible.

@2Hannahismyname there’s a possibility you could get rescinded for the D especially because it is a psych class; however, if you’ve already finished 60 transferable units, and research methods is not a major prerequisite, there’s less of a chance. Just make sure you report it to your counselor right away. No way to know what will happen until your counselor replies. Good luck.

Why do I feel like this question or some variation of it is asked every couple of days

Were you going for an AAT degree? Check ASSIST see if your transfer requirements for your CC psychology to PSB at UCI require research methods. I can tell you that research methods is a course in lower division psych beh and psych at UCI, I was required to pass it to transfer ant get my AAT degree. Check up on that ASAP and consider retaking it this summer no matter what. Taking it at UCI will be pricy and possibly harder. The best case scenario and a likely one is that you are allowed to transfer and simply need to take the UCI research methods. Like was said above, message your counselor.

Problem Solved !
Thank you all , for all your help in regards to shedding some light on my situation. My counselor got back to me this morning and let me know since it was not a class on my conditional admission , and all other requirements will be met, there is no issue regarding admissions. My admission offer will still stand.

Thank you again
