Any of you guys taking classes during summer session 1?
@E2DuhJ I am! I haven’t registered yet but I’m most likely taking that research class that we’re required to take and then intro to law since that will be my poli sci module starting in fall. How about you?
What apartment complex would you guys recommend if money is not an issue? I was reading some reviews and it seems that the ACC apartments are either hit or miss.
@fuzzypants well, the irvine company has some super nice apartments right off campus. 2600 for a 2 bedroom. Which is absolutely ridiculous, but if money isn’t an issue!
@atlashoney I have to finish some prereqs for nursing in the fall so I’m taking genetics, public health, and philo 4
@fuzzypants I was looking at Campo Del Sol. I heard good reviews about those apartments from students at UCI and my cousin who is an alumni there. I also toured VDCN a couple weeks ago and they were nice apartments with a spacious kitchen/living room area shared between two people on each side of the apartment. Also, I researched that a lot of people like the arroyo vista living area as well.
Call again. So… I finished mine last night. Since I am a transfer student, its not considered late - you have given them your 2015/16 Fafsa, right?
Under review is odd… mine wasnt, or was for an incredibly short time. You submitted the summer aid too, that has you list units and housing and stuff?
I believe its past the deadline for normal students but we are transfers. So we are fine, from what Im told. You should call em back tomorrow… I live several hours away so giving them actual paperwork for financial aid was definitely a no go. I had to overnight Transfer Edge stuff… xD
On another note - really excited for this summer!
Ill be taking the transfer edge class amd classics 45a for summer 1, then physics 7d and bio sci 194s for summer 2. XD
@Escapyst okay, I faxed them the application for summer aid. Hopefully that’s all they need. Did they give you your aid summary yet? When I click on “summer aid” it says “under review”
I never faxed it. @atlashoney, go onto your aid, change the year to 2015/16 and complete it there?
Yeah, I have summer aid and accepted it already. Be prepared for loans.
Is there any computer science majors that are taking classes over the summer? It seems that most of them I looked at has a waitlist attached to them, is this usually the case?
The classes for my major are filling up… Love waiting till sometime in June to register.
Do any of you know what amount we have to pay for school by September? Like, since I got grants that equal 22 grand, and tuition and fees are only 13 grand, do they disburse the excess to me?
What house do they assign you for summer housing? They havn’t sent me the application yet.
Hey guys, how do we enroll for the transfer edge program? It says we can sign up as soon as we SIR however I can’t find where we can actually enroll in the program and where to select our courses for summer?
It’s been a ride you guys. just got accepted to ucsd off the waitlist. I’m choosing to go there. I’ll have to cancwl my SIR to irvine
Caall the transfer edge pffice is best - theres an application you can print out that you need to mail in. Make sure you get your summer financial aid done! Its Arroyo Vista housing, too.
Part of the application for transfer ege tells you to put down your classes you want. You -have- to take the tramsfer edge class, preferably in your first summer session there, so be careful and check co-reqs for the classes you want so they dont conflict.
I went to the office the other day, but I am worried it might take too long to process to sign up for housing since the payment is due by the 27th. Does anyone know if they accept payments after the deadline?
So I emailed them and I basically have no chance because by the time mail them my enrollment it’ll be too late for housing etc. and since I live in Norcal theres no way I can hand deliver it. I can’t believe they don’t have an electronic system for this and that were suppose to have our housing for summer session done before our SIR. Really disappointed in Irvine for this one.
Why not try subleasing for the summer. I’m sure plenty of students that will be gone are looking for people to fill their spots until September.
@cheftim916 Hey man, @errorthirtyseven is right. In fact, that’s what I’m doing for the summer. I am taking classes in both summer sessions and have already found arrangements for subleasing this summer. there is a facebook page actually dedicated for people who are subleasing there spots during this summer. There are A LOT of people actually looking to sublease so I would recommend you join that facebook group right away. Subleasing for the summer is way cheaper than finding summer housing through the school itself.
Not only that, but people start getting “desperate” when it comes to subleasing their place during the summer and offer rent for a fraction of what they actually have to pay so that they lose less money than if they didn’t sublease at all.
