Life at College Nine?

What's it like? What are the people like? Are there any events that go on? Is it dull or exciting? Any things you like or dislike about it? Etc.

I just want to know everything that I can about it, and preferably from people that go to that college, but if you don't and still know something about it (first-hand) I'd love to hear.

It really depends. It’s impossible to sum up the people and the daily life of students at College Nine because every building and floor is different. You might get to live on a floor that is very friendly and open or you might get one that keeps to themselves.

However, from my experience the people at C9 are really friendly (I lived at C10 dorms last year). There are usually events that go on every so often, but that’s pretty similar to every college. The dorms are nice, kinda near dining hall, and I kind of got the impression that it was more of a community feeling compared to C10 (but that might just be me). If you have any specific questions then maybe you should ask those instead.

So how was it? Did you like other colleges better? What did you like and dislike about it

I liked C10, but not everyone had the same experiences as me. I LOVED my floor last year and I still hang out with about 10-15 people on that floor on a regular basis. However, my friend from high school lived in the floor underneath me and he didn’t like his floormates at all. He basically only hung out with his roommate and that’s about it.

I actually formed a close group of friends from Cowell and I really started to like that college better than C10 as it felt really open and friendly. I was close to moving there in the end of the year, but I realized I couldn’t leave my C10 pride (1-0! YOU KNOW!)

Likes: New everything, people don’t really fit the “UCSC stereotype”, feels like a modern college, nice dining hall, liked the social justice theme, and also great location.

Cons: Not that open/friendly (compared to Cowell imo), some rooms have great views of quad while some have views of the parking lot, and some people might be a little stuck up (comes with the idea the college is “new”).
