Life on Campus..

So guys, I have finished my first semester of college and i can honestly say it wasn’t easy but I’m pretty sure a lot of people can say that about their first semester or even their first year as a whole. Now that its almost time to go back for my second semester, i honestly truly don’t want to. I feel like my school may not be where i truly fit in at. I’m considering transferring after this school year is over with. At the beginning of the year, for the longest, i loved it there but that blew away and now i dread it there. I hate going to class, talking to people, and overall just being on campus as a whole. Anytime that i’m off campus just for a weekend i feel so much better but when its time to go back i hate it. So my question to you all is: Should I transfer??

Why do you dread being on campus? What parts specifically? It may not be the school but an aspect of college. Transferring only works if you transfer to a place that solves your previous issues with your old school. You have to identify those first.

It just may be that college may not be the right pursuit for you at this time. There is no shame in that. Plenty of kids have taken a gap year first or taken time away from college to get a better idea of what they want to do with their future. Frankly, I think way too many kids proceed from high school to college because… well, just because, “that’s what you do”. It’s not for everyone, and certainly not for every 18 year old. Think about it… it might be a good idea to take a break, volunteer, get a paying job for a year, whatever. You’ll figure it out, and it’s great that you’re beginning to really think about it now. Best wishes to you.

@PengsPhils i feel as though it may be the social scen including the people. I mean, sure they plan trips to places and things to do for students but its just not right for me. I feel like its ALWAYS boring and i have went to so many parties off campus since the school year started to try to experience college parties and they’re fun! But as far as on campus events to go to, they’re boring. As far as people goes, it was so hard for me to find my group of friends because some of the girls there are hard to mesh with but not all of them though. Even now, i dont even think i want to be friends with them anymore

So will you have any guarantees that any of that will be better if your transfer?

Do the best you can academially no matter whether you stay or decide to tranfer. Doing well academically will keep doors open as you try to figure things out.

Also, counseling might help you figure out next steps.
