I received a very nice 'likely admission letter'. Anyone else receive one? Is this a sure-fire acceptance? The phrasing made it seem like a definite acceptance...

We got that also. Like they were saying - Relax you are in.

To that I say - SHOW ME THE MONEY!!

hahaha yes!

Yes, DS received one as well… does have a very positive spin…

just curious - what did it say?

Basically it said - Thanks for applying, you are a very strong candidate, don’t worry you will get in.

Not sure of the exact wording because we did not keep the letter.

Curious - what are the stats of the others who received it?

I am Ksea’s mom…this is some of what it said:

“We have completed a preliminary review of your application for admission to RIT. Your strong academic and personal achievements have impressed us, and we believe that you have excellent potential to continue to develop and thrive here at RIT. Although we will not be notifying regular decision applicants about their admission decision until close to March 15, we feel optimistic about your likelihood for admission and wanted to share this with you early on, as you are making plans about your future”

“Should you decide to attend RIT this fall…”

She only submitted her ACT with a 27. GPA UW was around a 3.1, weighted around 4.6 (school has generous weighting system) with a strong upward trend. She applied to the biomedical photography program in the College of Imaging Sciences. She also had numerous awards, recognitions, employment, and community service in photography. And she applied to the program because she had heard about it at a National Portfolio Day where she met the head of the biomed program who told her her work was perfectly suited to it.

One of my friends got their “likely acceptance letter” today from RIT. He sure wishes he new the “likely merit aid”…

D2 received a likely letter, as well. I thought it was really nicely worded. It is her first choice, but she opted to not go in ED - despite applying by that deadline - because of the need to see financial aid packages from other schools. Congrats to all who received one!

AGH!! what does this mean?! I actually joined CC so I could shout to the world about this. Does this mean I got in, am likely to get in, or did everyone who had already applied get this? They could have been a bit clearer…

EDIT:
just for reference if nobody know, my stats:
3.5 GPA
1990 SAT
had an bioinformatics internship
applied to the CS program at RIT
(and if I can say so myself, an awesome common app essay)

Haha I didn’t even realize it said that in mine until I read this thread.

My son applied RD in mid-November. He did not receive a “likely” letter. He stats include
a 2230 SAT, NMSF, 3.6 GPA. I don’t think anyone should panic if they didn’t get a letter.

I am curious, however, if he will get one. We live in the mid-west. Maybe the mail is slow to reach us???

I did some research on the subject of “likely letters”. They often are randomish and
in no way mean people who didn’t get them aren’t in.
I think this means I am in however.

Those that received this type of letter… do you feel you communicated with the school during the process and they were responding to that communication? Seems odd that some students would get this letter and others not.

Just speaking for me, I have not contacted them at all. I just sent in the application, I haven’t even visited yet.

You guys are ALL definitely in, stop worrying.

yea, your right. I just got my acceptance letter back. Still need to here from RPI and michigan though.

I received the “likely” letter also and just received my acceptance package today. I live in New York so depending on your location, maybe you’ll get yours soon.

I am guessing that this means that all of your base stats (test scores, gpa, etc.) indicate that you will be accepted. The “should be accepted” part probably just means that you will be accepted unless there are major problems elsewhere.

I got one of these letters and got my acceptance earlier this week.
