i just got a likely from DUke, with that in mind do u think im in at cornell?

Getting a likely letter from one college cannot be used to accurately evaluate your chances at another. But if Duke is considering you, I think you do have some chance at Cornell. Of course, it's just a mere guess.

It is not a bad sign, but it is common for admissions to seem rather random at times. People are accepted to some schools and not others at the same time that other people see the exact opposite. Somebody will be accepted to a string of ivies and not even waitlisted at others.

What about I likely letter from UCLA engineering, and getting into Berkeley engineering?

Are you guys all geniuses??

im a real boy.

no your not.

To the OP - you really can't judge your chances at one school based on another. A CCer was deferred from Harvard and then got a likely from Yale. Plus, Duke could be actively seeking something you have - such as geographic diversity, your academic interets, or a special talent like playing a sport or specific instrument - that Cornell may not necessarily want so badly. In Cornell's case, it also depends on which school you applied to. Finally, your essays and recs may be different in your two apps.

heck your in at duke, why bother about cornell?

Many people who got into Duke last year (myself included) were also accepted at Cornell. Duke is considered somewhat more competitive/selective. Personally, I got into all of my colleges ranked below Duke, but none of the colleges ranked above it.

That might not be the case for everyone, so Cornell certainly isn't a guarantee.
