hey, i got a l likely letter and was fairly pumped and holding my breath for Echols but come the 15th (i believe that was the day the echols email was sent), no email and no word since then. the only thing that gets me about that is that a friend (with same gpa. but lower test scores) needed some ideas for schools to apply to and I recommended UVA to her and she got the likely letter and echols. now i'm wondering if i hadnt said anything about UVA to her....oh well, that's irony for ya.
Anyone else get the letter and not the email? post. make me feel better, lol.

same here only without the friend part...i'm also disappointed

me too. i think that if I get into unc I will go there though.

I'm in the same boat, and boy does it suck...all the same, we pretty much know we're getting into UVA and that's still a great thing...but a big fat dissapointment nonetheless.

I think the reasons for choosing certain people over others for echols (and in college admissions in general) can be really random, too, so I guess we just have to be confident enough to believe that we are echols caliber and leave it at that.

Reading all these responses, I'm beginning to wonder if UVa made a right move in sending out those likely letters. Perhaps it'd be better if people not getting into Echols not get the letters in the first place - at least they'd be happy that they got into UVa. Everyone seems so sad now even though they're in.

Same here. :(

Ah, but isn't it true no one here would have known any of this, if not for the cc board? So, most people who got the letter are still in happy ignorance, only we obsessives know the full story.

actually guys, i just got my echols letter in the mail - to my utter shock - the other day. crazy.

rockettgerl22, what was the date on the letter?

okay, just to make the people who got likelies but no echols feel a bit better, i got a likely from UVa and then they waitlisted me. yep. i found it sort of hilarious, in a ****y way -_-.

I got a likely and still haven't even received my acceptance package - much less any notification of Echols. Needless to say, I'm not planning on attending UVa.
