Likely Letter Financial Aid Mystery

We got that message about financial aid (because my daughter hadn't submitted complete financial aid info with her ED application). Daughter was convinced that it didn't mean anything. But we (parents) thought it was significant. Why would financial aid office be assessing financial aid unless the Admissions Office had ruled favorably? In any case, daughter was accepted ED. So I think hearing from the financial aid office while the application is still pending is significant. But this scenario is only if your financial aid application is incomplete.

I actually was wrong. I did never receive a fin. aid letter; I did, however, receive MULTIPLE phone calls concerning my financial aid documents while in school 2 or 3 days prior to receiving the letter.

I just got a likely today!! I'm so happy!

I never received any email or phone call regarding financial aid.

Because the overwhelming majority of students who are admitted do not receive a likely letter, getting a FA letter does not mean that you will receive a likely letter.

However, at this stage of the game, from what I have seen over the years, a request for FA information has been correlated to receiving an acceptance down the line. But as with everything in life, nothing is definite and YMMV.

There is a correlation! I received my likely letter today. Very excited!

:(.... I did not

Where are you located? I'm sure it's coming. This is TOO big of a coincidence if there is no correlation.

Georgia 10 char

No financial aid email. Possibly due to the fact that I got a likely email instead of a letter and also I am an international applicant.

Hang in there BigWeight...

They figure out the financial aid for all applicants, because except for you likely letter people, the final list of applicants isn't finalized until a few days before the deadline, and at that point, they need to begin printing and stuffing envelopes ASAP.

It is possible, however, that the order in which they prepare the financial aid stuff goes from highest academic index to lowest AI, that way they do the preparations for those who are most likely to be accepted first. Then once the near-final lists are in, they finish up with the handful of applications that they still need to do.

Well, to make you all feel better, I got neither a financial aid email nor a likely letter!
Yay for me.

To add an outlier, I just received a likely letter, but have not been contacted with an email regarding financial aid.

Are you actually missing any financial aid documents though?

FA Email yesterday, but no likely letter yet

If you received the email recently (today, Friday, etc.) you are probably part of the last wave (I think the people who received letters today would count as the end of February wave?). There should be one last wave for the beginning of March.

And I'm sure if you did not receive contact and still received a letter, there was just nothing curious about your FA. If it is a supplemental info. contact, it should mean something.

Also, it's quite amazing how many kids on these boards got likelies. Good job CC + kids who found this via Google.

^Yea, I'm pretty sure that all my FA stuff was in order.

CC is usually the top of the top. im proud CC....and even if I don't make it, I wish u guys the best luck!!! I can't complain either ;)

So for those with likely letters, do you know your financial aid package? When do you think we will get it?

So I received one of these e-mails today--anything implied, given that probably all the likely letters have already been mailed and received?
