Got one. Wisconsin - 1520SAT, 780 writing, 750 iic, 740 u.s. hist; 2/420

does anyone know how many they sent??

when you say "make it through the pool," do you mean that they are very unlikely to be even admitted, or just very very unlikely to get likely letters?

I mean it's hard for even academic 6's and 7's to be admitted without a significant extra pull. That pull could be great volunteer service, real achievement in a musical field, research with a professor, etc. These days, it's tough for even 8's and 9's to make it through on academics alone.

hey, likely letter----NJ

1520, 800m2c 800wr 770chem
4.3 weighted....though my semester grades are good and should have helped me i don't think they had a chance to look at them before sending this

just curious.....how are these 'likely' letters sent...via 'snail mail' or e-mail?

snail mail

stanmaster - i go to chaminade

I've decided to hope for the best tomorrow and then try to forget about it. It would be a gigantic, enormous, magnificent weight off my shoulders, but I suppose I can get past it and convince myself that likely letters aren't everything as long as it eventually pans out.

Seeing as how nearly everyone has almost-perfect SAT II scores, however, I'm really regretting not retaking my 660. My other two scores are 800s, though, so even if I'm not a one-reader A I can handle the wait.

Ok, there are some in Wisconsin (Yeah for cheese), and Ohio (I'm a little dissapointed in you, Ohio). What annoys me is the one in Southern California (not that you got in, of course, but that you recieved a letter).

Anyone mind telling me the date that the postmark says on the letter. Thanks.

Adds: Thanks Luckystar. I guess I should just wait now. I probably won't get one, but I still have a chance.

The letter is dated and postmarked February the 11th

You gotta calm down...

The letters comes in waves, if you did not get one today, letters will still be sent out over the next few weeks. Even then, the majority of the admitted students do not receive likely letters.

I got one. SAT I 1600, SAT IIs 790, 780, 720, GPA 3.93. Deferred EA from Yale.

It's a nice surprise after the disappointment of not getting in early.

:( still 45 days left before us nonlikely letter people hear.

To the people that have not gotten likely letters: don't lose hope! I didn't get a likely letter from D and I got in.

wow that is so incredibly wonderful. (i haven't gotten one [yet?], but I also am not expecting one lol) But seriously, reading that letter made me love Dartmouth even more. So did how wonderfully FRIENDLY their financial aid office was when i called today! Gosh every new day I discover yet another reason to love the big D. Congrats to all who look like shoo-ins! (sp?)

When do you think they will send them again?

This is going to propel a deadly debate about Affirmative Action that will be dripping with vitriol and resentment with a few genuflections on the plight of middle-class white guys, but I'll post any ways. (I'm kidding about the vitriol and the genuflections)

I received a likely letter yesterday. I am a Black Male (I think the term URM is cold and impersonal, but that's just me) from the west suburbs of Chicago. I earned a 33 on my ACT (roughly a 1470 for you all on the East Coast), I have a 3.848 / 4.0. And my class rank just sucks, 169 / 742. I participated in the Destination Dartmouth program, which is designed to attract minority applicants to a school whose locations is simply unappealing to most minorites ( I love it though). I've got a butt-load of EC's, including national recognition for musical composition, as well as other national scholarship awards like the Discover Card Tribute Award. I'm also a National Achievement Finalist.

BTW, I was totally floored by the letter, so to those who didn't get one, worry not. There will be plenty of you who will get in anyways.

Peace.

How?U obviously deserve a likely letter...Congrats!!

Congrats, I hope you go to dimensions and have a wonderful time. No need to have a heated debate over the issue, because apparently you brought your game to the table.

Other than your class rank--which sucks--you seem well qualified. Very solid SAT. National recognition in the arts. You definitely bring something to the party. Congrats.
