Likely letters

Has anyone received a likely letter from duke yet?

There is nothing official (that I could find) on Undergraduate Admissions’ website re “likely letters.” However, last year (if my memory is accurate) they were received around 20/22 February. In some recent years, they were mailed about ten days earlier. Many (most/all??) are associated with on-campus URM events.

@toptier - then are you saying that most “to be” admits do not receive a likely letter?

@wayneandgarth‌ (re post #2): Certainly, I believe that’s true for virtually every undergraduate institution that employs “likely letters.”

Likely letters don’t really have a restricted date range. Last year, I got mine on the 7th of March. I know a few friends who got their letters afterwards.

@terminatorp did your friends get in? Do you know of people who go in that did not receive the letter?

I did not receive a likely letter and am in my second year at Duke.

For the uninitiated what is a likely letter? TIA

LLs are a letter (and/or e-mail) from Admissions that indicates a STRONG probability that an applicant will soon receive a formal acceptance (on the normal decision date). Frequently, LLs are pre-acceptance invitations to a university-sponsored event – generally on campus and often for a subset of URM candidates. Not all schools use LL and, even for those that do, probably a significant majority of those who will eventually be admitted never receive them.

Has anyone received one yet?? Just curious.

Last week several major Duke merit scholarships determined their finalists/semifinalists and BSA weekend invitations were issued.

I was notified today by email of my acceptance and finalist status for one of the major merit scholarships. idk if that’s what you’re considering a likely

@lolyaywoo Congrats. Did you receive AB Duke? That’s the only one that hasn’t been reported on cc.

Thanks! And nope, University Scholar

Has anyone out in the CC cyberspace heard anything about AB Duke?

Someone heard about AB Duke, I read it in a “help me pick what school to go to” thread.

@comomom in “Harvard vs Duke AB” someone referenced just finding out a friend is 1 of 45 finalists in AB Duke.

heard from a reliable source the AB Duke finalists were notified before March 7th.

Got a likely in the mail today!

It said “The Admissions Committee enthusiastically expects to offer you admission formally later this month.”

Extra Info: I live in the Midwest and the letter was dated March 5

That’s wonderful, CONGRATULATIONS and welcome!
