Likely letters

The invitations to the open house events for admitted students have no correlation whatsoever as to whether you have visited before or not, nor how close you live.

My daughter had an invite to one of the events in her year and had visited before. Further, some who attended were from NY, though we are not.

I live in SoCal and I got mine Monday. A friend of mine got one too (for CAS). We both happen to do many of the same EC's/community services and we took the same classes up until this year. I heard some other person at my school got the invitation as well. So that makes at least 3 people from my school...a small not-very-competitive school that probably hasn't had anyone go to NYU in the past few years.

I'm wondering how many people got these likely letters....

Had me and one another from my school get one (out of around 500), it usually sends one or two to an Ivy a year, but we already have four through early, so we'll see :)

just got one from gsp today. i'm shocked. i didn't expect to even get in at all. but i am SO FREAKIN HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, wanted to clarify that the incoming freshmen class at NYU is around 4200.

mtgrlsmom, while it's true that the incoming freshman class will have approximately 4200 enroll, the number of accepted applicants will be 10,000+. The acceptance rate overall is around 30%.

I got mine from Gallatin a couple of days ago now, I'm really excited about it although NYU isn't my top choice. My stats aren't exactly perfect, though, so anyone still waiting, there's definitely hope! 2260 SATs, but a 3.7 GPA and a top 20% rank.

What about emails? Do they send email notifications?
I live in France, and right now I am working in Spain. So not only will the mail take ages to get there, but my parents are not home so I would have to wait until first week of April.
Help? I need somebody! Help!

alwaysamom - In my post I copied information straight from the NYU website, to provide information on "how large the actual freshmen class will be", I did not mean to imply that only 4200 people get accepted :).

I am well aware that NYU accepts a seemingly high number of students in order to come with that yield. I actually have read that the number this year is closer to 8900 to yield that class of about 4200; this was prompted because more people chose to enroll than expected in recent years, and that NYU intended to tighten their numbers somewhat. Note that I am talking about the University as a whole, and not about a particular school within the college.

do international students get invited to the orientation?

I was accepted to Tisch!!!!

I cannot stop smiling, I'm so happy.

Congrats PhoenixWright, my son was too...he can't stop smiling either:). Acceptance/invitation thing came today...the congratulations on the outside was sort of a give away!!

does the chances at scholarships or better financial aid package improve for those students who recieved this early invitation?

Congrats PhoenixWright--did you get postcard invite or formal letter of acceptance? Thx--good luck!!

Nash...I know you didn't direct the question to me, but my son got his acceptance today and it was in the form of an invitation sized card in an envelope. The outside of the envelope said "congratulations". The card said Congratulations, welcome to the class of 2012. Then on the inside of the card it said your acceptance packet to Tisch is on the way and in the meantime we want you to know about this admission reception for accepted students and went on to give the date for that. Hope that helps.

It's an invitation card in an envelope with the word "Congratulations" on it.

The formal letter and financial aid plan should come around April 1.

AHH!! Me too! Just got into Tisch today!!!!

Congrats Petey!:)

i just got my letter from tisch and i'm in texas

mtgrlsmom, I mentioned the difference between the accepted vs. the enrolled numbers, as did Susan, because your post #47 sought to "clarify" my post which mentioned the 10,000 number for accepted students. If you were not referring to my previous post, then I apologize for mentioning it.

OMG I'M FREAKING OUT!!!

I just got the little post card thing saying my acceptance to Tisch was coming!!! AHHHHHHHH!!!! So excitedddd...
