likely letters

i was just looking over the nyu decisions thread, and i noticed that maybe 2 people who applied and were accepted hadnt received likelies...

is this just the superiority of cc or does nyu send likelies out to way more than the top couple percent?

How are you defining "likely"? If you mean "Sunday at the Square", only the top portion of the applicant pool gets invited to this...this is NYU's version of the likely letter and really the first invite sent out. If by "likely", you mean invites to "University Day" and some other programs, these are given to MANY.

I also think that this website attracts a very self selected group...top students who care a lot about the college admissions process, so that also may have something to do with it.

by likely i mean anyone who is getting accepted, it does not have to be the top 2% or anything like that

by many, do you mean that many accepted applicants receive it, or just many applicants? accepted applicants would make more sense, but i just want to make sure that we are on the same page

thanks for the feedback

Accepted applicants recieve these invites, I highly doubt rejected ones would. NYU isn't going to invite someone they have no interest in taking to these events.

I don't think I received a "likely" letter (not 100% sure because I am studying abroad this year, but my Mom didn't see anything in the mail)
and I got accepted to CAS with a pretty good academic scholarship...so anyone who didn't receive a letter--there is no cause for concern (yet!).
