Likely letters...

Please post here if you have gotten a likely letter. Also, stats would be very helpful.

Do most of all ppl who get accepted receive likely letters, or is it just a small percent of them? Does anyone know how they work?

very few people get likely letters..also, not all people who are admitted get likely letters.. they are basically sent to endear the college to the student before the decisions are sent out officially..

i got one!

this is my first post ever on collegeconfidential... and i just got one today, and i'm not an athlete or anything. i'm really happy, this college thing is coming true! :)

can one of you who got a likely letter give us all a little summary of what it says??

Dear Jane-Marie (or whatever name),

On behalf of the Office of Admissions, I commend you for your outstanding academic and personal achievements. A preliminary review of your credentials has been completed by the selection committee, and I am pleased to inform you that the committee has designated you as a likely candidate for admission to the (school you applied to) class of 2013.

does anyone have any idea of a fraction or percent of people who get admitted without likely letters? Maybe 50%? Less?

I would say the vast majority. Probably 80% plus of RD admits are w/o likely letters. Most likely 90%+.

^ absolutely correct..only the most outstanding get them..so congratulations to you..

My daughter received a 'likely letter" this week. Penn is her first choice. A lot of smiles around the house.

anyone get a likely w/ a dual-degree program?

My letter says that, in the past, 98% of people receiving a likely letter are ultimately admitted.

How many people get likely letters and then AREN'T admitted...? Does that happen? :[ it would be so sad...

nevermind..

wait I’m confused, what is the percent of applicants admitted who did not receive a likely letter?

Tashers: About 80 to 90 percent
