We definitely recommend attending Day for Admitted Students if possible. It’s the most comprehensive program we put on for our admitted students and the entire campus participates. We do however have smaller programs called myWM Mondays in April as well for those who cannot make it on April 14. Much more information will be provided to those who are admitted via the web and mail.

My son received the postcard today. The handwritten line at the bottom is a simple gesture, but one that conveys a most welcome personal connection. It sets W&M apart from the rest. We’re absolutely delighted. We’ll cross our fingers, and wish for a little merit based financial help from W&M to make the decision easier…may be just a dream, but we can wish!!

We would like to make another visit and if possible attend a class or two.

Us too. I’m hoping that the Monroe scholarship is a possibility since according to their website it goes to approximately 2-3 hundred freshmen each year and I wouldn’t think there were a ton more likely letters that are sent out.

still sending them???

TV4caster: I hate to telll you this but the Monroe only goes to 4 applicants each year

uno- No, the Murray goes to 4 per year. The Monroe goes to the top 10-15%. At least that is what the W&M website says.

[William & Mary - Scholarships](http://www.wm.edu/admission/financialaid/typesofaid/scholarships/index.php)

Whoops sorry! Mixing up the m scholarships!

No problem She probably won’t get either one anyway but it is nice to at least dream.

luna27, for the most part all likely postcards have been mailed. As we get into March we begin Committee deliberations and because we’re relatively close to decision notifications we will hold off on any additional communication.

Just to clarify about the Monroe Scholarship, about 15% of those who are admitted receive the Monroe Scholarship. About 75 Monroes enroll in each entering class. The monies associated with the Monroe Scholarship are not tuition monies but research funding.

We have about 50-60 Murray semi-finalists. We narrow that down to 20-25 finalists and from there select 4 recipients. The monies associated with Murray are for tuition and research.

W&M said “We have about 50-60 Murray semi-finalists. We narrow that down to 20-25 finalists and from there select 4 recipients.”

Are those who aren’t picked then put into the pool for Monroe? If so, does that really leave only about 15 unclaimed spots for people that haven’t been semi-finalists (75-60 SF’s)?

My S got the likely postcard today!! Based on the earlier post from W&M Admissions, he may have been in the last batch to get a postcard.

checked the mail… guess I’m not getting one
Oh well

Got mine today! I must have been the last one… How many applicants typically get them?

TV4Caster, all Murray Semi-finalists are already Monroe Scholars and they know that when contacted about the Murray Scholarship. Note we enroll about 75-80 Monroes each year. We offer to far more than that (10-15% of those admitted) to get 75-80 to enroll.

At this point, most likely postcards have been sent. That being said, as we’ve said all along, they go to a small portion of those who we admit so not getting a postcard means nothing about what decision you’ll receive in April.

So there is a chance people might still get a likely postcard! I desperately want one :)

lexieam, there is a very small chance. It’s also possible that now that we’re beginning Committee deliberations we will stop sending likely postcards. But there are plenty of admits still to come from the Committee process
