Linen Service

We got an add in the mail re ordering sets of sheets and towels at Brown. Anybody use it, and/or is it decent, or are we better off having our son bring his own extra long sheets? THanks.

Didn’t use it, but heard via word of mouth that it’s nothing special, you’re probably better off getting your own.

Okay, thanks.

I saw the quality of the sheets and towels from this service, and it is fairly mediocre, at best. It’s expensive, in my mind, and the towels are thin, and the sheets are rough. If your son doesn’t particularly care about this, and the price is right for you, then it’s convenient to have it delivered, but that’s about the only good thing. Anyway, since you will be bringing so much with you, this really doesn’t make that much of a difference, stuff-wise. Better to get better quality linens, in my opinion.

And you can also use the Bed & Bath service, ordering linens and other items at home and then picking them up at the Providence store.

Do regular size twin sheets fit all of the Brown beds?

Get extra long.

Thanks franglish and fireandrain…I appreciate all of you Brown posters and your words of wisdom that I’ve read over the course of the past few months–very helpful.

mom: Once your kid is there, you can help out here, too!

Ah, and just when I thought I might be able to wean myself off of CC!!! You’re right, tho, I need to give back and will feel so in-the-know having made it thru all this, that I won’t be able to help myself!

If the company involved is “Residence Hall Linens”, I strongly advise against this service: 3 years ago, my sister ordered it for my nephew. Because of a family emergency, I ended up taking DN to his school. Package had been delivered to wrong dorm, then moved out again. We chased it all over campus (under pouring rain) and ended up buying extra supplies at a local store. I could understand a mixup, but the so-called support service on the phone was completely unhelpful and uninterested.

Yes, Grateful, that’s exactly the provider. Well, that settles that for us! Thanks.
