Linen?

Ok, I know this is kind of a stupid topic, but here we go...

I received a mailer today from Tufts Student Resources about bed linens. I just wanted to ask whether it makes sense to buy stuff from TSR or from elsewhere in Boston?

Also, are microfridges really popular/useful?

I've said this before and I'll say it again - you don't need extra-long bed linens. Normal bed linens fit, because the extra-long beds are extra thin and extra narrow. My Laura Ashley sheets fit well, even with an eggcrate, although it was a tight fit with a feather bed.

If you are coming from overseas, do whatever is easier for you. Most likely, you'll have to buy other stuff, so you can get your linens in Boston. You might want them shipped to the dorm (early), because bed linens are one of those things that you kind of need that first day.

Microfridges are very popular and useful, esp. if you like to eat all the time (I'm a big grazer). If you have a place to store them over the summer, I would suggest getting your own fridge & microwave (the latter of which will have to live under your bed, because they are not allowed in the rooms), as it is less expensive than renting.

Thanks a lot ... but for me coming from India it would be plain crazy to try and bring along bed linen since Ill have so much other stuff to bring. The International Orientation schedule tells me that we'll be taken to Boston for shopping only the day after we arrive, but the mail also says rental linens will be available only from the 30th. So,

What should I do?

Are the prices around the same if I buy it in Boston or from TSR? If they are the same I would rather get them from TSR...less of a hassle

Generally, anything from TSR (or campus bookstore, too, for that matter) tends to be more expensive. I would advise to wait until Boston to buy linens - there are plenty of stores around (Meadow Glen Mall, on Route 16, for example, is 10-15 minutes away if you rent a car) and you'll be able to get things cheaper that way. Of course, if you're anxious about not having time, you could order it from an online retailer and have it shipped to the dorm.
