A friend whose son was a freshman last year at another college recommended the PB (Pottery Barn) Teen catalogue for XL Twin sheets. A bit pricey but 100% cotton and well-made.

I'd also enjoy hearing other suggestions on this topic.

We bought son's sheets on-line because he loves flannel 100% cotton. They were a cheap $15/set & mailed free by amazon.com. He'll pick up the rest when he gets to LA so we're not hauling a ton of bedding & other stuff on the plane. There is free shuttle service for the 1st few days surrounding move-in day 8/16, so you can get stuff from Target & IKEA. I've read Bed Bath & Beyond also has XL, but is very expensive.

I have another little question about the dorm bed thing. I think most of them can be raised up, and little drawer sets or other storage containers can be put under the bed. My daughter is athletic, (lots of gear) plus has a guitar plus plus plus! She has been assigned Marks Tower, and looks kind of tiny. Anyone know the underbed storage possibility? Like maybe specifically what works? She knows she will be scaling back quite a bit, and is cool with that, just trying to help make all the necessities fit~

The Trojan Housing photos of the building appear to show standard USC beds, though the headboards don't seem as tall. Perhaps a student who has stayed there can confirm?

Underbed storage is great if you can raise bed up, but you will need to supply your own containers. Even at the highest setting, I don't think the USC dressers fit underneath.

Lewiston- years ago when I stayed in Marks Tower, we did have beds that raised up. Most people raised them high enough that their dresser fit underneath, which is quite a hop to get up there. One roomate pair in my hall even got the custodian to bunk their beds in an L-shape configuration, so it seemed like they had a much larger room than the rest of us. The furniture seemed brand new then (six years ago), so it's likely they still have it.

bmanbs2- no, they just provide the beds. The nearest hardware store w/ lumber is the Home Depot up on Wilshire, a bit east of Hoover. For smaller stuff there is Vermont Hardware, one block west of campus.

Thanks a lot for the info. I appreciate any tips or ingenious methods to make the small space work. Just want to get a start so her gear, music, fun stuff will have a place.
