FROM CORNELL UNIV WEB SITE

On Monday, December 12, 2005, a former Cornell University applicant posted a web link on www.collegeconfidential.com providing last year’s URL to the Cornell University admissions web site’s application status system.

By using this link and providing their unique identifications and passwords, a small number of current Early Decision applicants were able to view information about their own applications; this information was not intended to be viewed until December 15.

At no time, however, were students able to access information about applications other than their own.

The integrity of the admissions web site has not been compromised, and therefore, no action will be taken against these students.

Early Decision applicants will still be able to access decision information through the Cornell application status system on December 15 at 5:00 p.m. EST
