Has anyone ever taken train from airport to Great Neck? How does that work? Do you have to take a bus or subway(is there a substation at the airport) from the airport to Penn Station to catch the LIRR? I know you would not want to travel this way with more than one rolling suitcase. We wanted to try it out at parents weekend to see if it is worth if for son's travel home in the future.

Does anyone know approx what the cost difference is between bus/train and taxi? Also what is the approx time diff?

don't know about LGA to Great Neck via LIRR. I flew in/out through Kennedy. (jetblue out of charlotte has some real good deals occasionally BTW)
from Great Neck you have to take the LIRR to PENN station, then from PENN to Jamaca station to connect to Kennedy via the Kennedy AIRTRAIN ($5 from kennedy to jamaca). for parent's weekend, I'd love to know about connecting to LIRR from LGA. (right now, american air has the same rate as jet blue -$89 each way, but they fly into LGA. )

Thanks WYTL, as you can see from his post, there is NO train from LGA, you have to take the bus. Lucky we are just driving up so don't have to worry about this! just parking at the hotel which is $13 per day!! UGH!

So the closest LIRR station to LGA on the Port Washington branch is Flushing Main Street? Is that station reasonably close to LGA hotels? Thanks
