How do you know if you a 3Q'd. Did you call up the admissions office or did they tell you?

Generally ... but not 100% of the time ... USNA admissions sends a letter informing that the candidate is now "scholastically qualified", i.e. 3qed ... med, pt, whole person score ...

I emphasize, it seems a fair number of 3 Qed candidates fail to get a letter in advance of receiving an appointment or other determination. Especially those 3Qed late in the process.

It's an important indicator, but not definitive.

And, I hope that BGOs here will correct or clarify, but I do not believe it is possible for a candidate to determine on basis of his/her own information (PRT score, grades, ECs, med/optical exams, etc.) if and/or when they are 3Qed as one cannot know one's whole person score or how it's interpreted.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I concur. There is a lot that goes into the "scholastically qualified" category.
One cannot go just by certain criteria such as SAT's, GPA etc.
From my understanding what is looked at is SAT's, class rank, high school courses taken and the level of difficulty of those courses as well as how well you did in those courses. Also, just because you won a congressional nomination do not assume you are qualified.
Besides courses and grades they also take into consideration your leadership activities and athletics. If you have stellar grades and SAT's with a poor leadership and/or athletic profile then you also may not be scholastically qualified.
For instance you could have the often spoken of 600/600 SAT score but if you have never taken Chemistry w/ lab or pre-calc you probably won't be scholastically qualified.
Bottom line is - if you have a weakness in the scholar/leader/athletic profile then you better be pretty strong in the other categories.
Determining if you passed the CFA and are physically qualified can be just as tricky.

Let's keep the list going

With such a short list, can I conclude there are not many 3Q'd candidates with a nomination out yet? Or there are not many candidates on this site? Or candidates prefer not to make themselves known?

I am fully qualified. I was notified by the Academy that I was Scholastically qualified and by my BGO that I was fully qualified. I have two Senatorial Noms, and one Congressional. My BGO told me it could be 4 to 6 weeks to hear anything since many of the members of Congress dump all of their nominations on the last day 1/31/08. That's the day all three of mine were made. It loads down the admissions board. For what it is worth.
