List of candidates for class 2010

tangoIndiaMike: its good to be realistic, but that doesn't mean to you have to give up on your dream altogether....the very fact that you are reapplying and seeking other routes demonstrates how motivated you are...so you never know...

our son just got his form to "update" DoDMERB...a one-pager, very simple-however they don't want it completed until January of 2006...I suppose to make sure nothing changes in the course of this year

best of luck~

Thanks for the encouragement navy2010: Motivated, motivated! Down right motivated! Hoo-ha, I wanna hurt somebody! Hoo-ha, I wanna kill somebody! (Too much Army training.)

I really think I need a fall semester transcript for USNA. To pay for the semester, I'm thinking about joining PA's Army National Guard. A semester at Penn State is about $5,000-7,000 minus gift aid and the ANG pays $4,500 a year max. I might even be able to get PA residency prices in the Guard.

I know I'm doing everything Army, but they just seem to be the branch willing to give me what I need. USNA will hopefully get me in the Navy.

(Sorry, I didn't mean to get irrelevant to the topic of the tread.)

Hey everyone:

Well today marks the day that I am 100% done with Academy apps and nomination apps. Now comes the nerve wracking time to wait and pray. Hopefully a nomination and an offer of appointment are in the near future.

Now its time for the back up schools: OSU and Penn State. I suppose applying for NROTC as well.

Good luck to all.

TangoIndiaMike44, you weren't irrelevant to the thread. I created the thread for that exact reason, helping out fellow candidates and giving encouragement to candidates or those thinking about it.

In my area nominations aren't decided (or final deadline due) until the end of September (the earliest). The other two nominations are due in October and November. I think last year nominations were announced around December. I got my teachers and coaches to write (or begin to write) recommendations.

Hey! How do you guys find time for CC?! I get bogged down with hours of homework already (not to mention XC practice and having to drive 35 minutes to/from school)! I like learning, though, so it's no big deal. Right now I think my sleep deprivation is preparing me for USNA (if I get in). Staying up with my little brother (8 months old) late into the morning is quite a test sometimes...and just great when I'm doing push ups/standing up in class to stay alive (thank the Almighty Lord for understanding teachers).

No nominations yet. Our MOB will not process until January.

Hey All!

Im Alli from Hampton, NH (as Tim previously stated lol). I am pretty much in the middle of applying I guess. I want to study systems engineering and run track/throw jav at Navy, which is def. my top most highest goal school! Hoorah! I want to go into the Marines.

Hi, I'm Kathleen. I'm from VA. Received candidate # in July...just getting started filling out all of the forms. I've been quite busy with an lab internship this summer.

Nobody007755, where in VA do you live. I lived in Alexandria right off the GW parkway near Old Town.

i'm Jacqueline, from TX....summer seminar 3: b-4-1...bravo bad boys! :)

during session one, we were the bravo bumble bees. BUZZ BUZZ BUZZ BUZZ

Session 2: B-2-5. Bravo Braves!

My name is David, from Houston, Texas. I was a candidate for USNA C/O '09. I was triple Q'ed, nominated, and interviewed very well with my BGO. Got the rejection letter on April 12.

I'm now a student at the University of Washington and a midshipman in the NROTC program. I'm going through the whole application shindig again, and hopefully gonna get the appointment this time around.

gluck DMeix! i'm sorry to hear you got rejected....any suspisions why?

anyways, gluck to all of us...CLASS OF 2010! OORAH!

DMeix: we have been told by many that as many as 1/3 of the entering class has some college or prep under their belts prior to the academy...so you will be in good company and in the meantime richer for the experience gained at your year of college and with the NROTC! Best of luck with your admission for Class of 2010!

I've been talkin' with my BGO through the summer...he said he's gonna find out what he can about my application as to why it was turned down, and go over that in my next interview. But as of right now, I can only guess as to why I was rejected.

navy2010: I've been told the same. A friend of mine was rejected a few years ago, went to Texas A&M for a year and got in. He said plebe year was tremendously easier...well...less difficult...because he had the year of college.

I'm lovin' NROTC. The memorization stuff we had to do before we report is almost identical to USNA...Officer's Code of Conduct, General Orders of a Sentry, National Chain of Command. Right now I just want to get the year started!

To DMEIX, If you son't mind how were your hs grades, sports, eca's?

Sorry, I guess I can't spell today! "don't"

DMeix: keep the faith!

My HS grades were pretty decent. I was number 116 out of 886, 3.5 unweighted GPA. 1340 on SAT, 28 on ACT.

I was in Cross Country and Track all four years. JV Team Captain for both teams in 11th grade. 2 time Varsity Track letterman, Varsity XC letterman.

I am Eagle Scout, still active as an adult leader in the troop. Also a Sea Scout (like Boy Scouts, but our skillset is all sailing and mariner's skills). German language club. National Honor Society. Various community service activities. The works...I have a resume of everything I've done.

My life outside of class was pretty much running and Boy Scouts.
