Congrats dictatoranna. Hope everything goes well

My name is Gina, I live on Fort Myers Beach in Florida, USNA is my first choice. I attended session 2 of Summer Seminar Bravo 2-3. I hope to swim for Navy!!! I am trying to get my english teachers email changed on the online candidate info because she moved. Other then that, everything is completed. I had my vision and my medical exam last week and I am waiting on my results. I am also making my appointment to meet with my BGO for the interview. I sent out all my applications to the senators and my congressmen..once everything is complete, all i can do, along with everyone else, is wait! Hopefully for a nomination and an appointment to the Academy.

Apan5 lives in your town...shes awesome i met her at summer seminar!!!!

Class of 2010,

I know the application process in long, but remember, once you get in, that's when the real stuff begins. My best advice to you all is, if you get in, cherish every little moment of civilian life you have left, you will miss it dearly. You are, however, fortunate and unfortunate in some areas. On the good side, Plebe Summer has been "mastered" at the academy, and the summer is very well organized and planned. You will be taken care of to ensure that you get the most training, and the least idleness/unproductivity possible (which is actually good, because you don't want lots of free time with cadre). Unfortunately, you will be entering the academy at a time of revision. The new Commandant wants to bring back the "old academy". This means plebes are vigerously trained (and unlike the class of '08, there are not so many relaxed standards and free overnights). I'm class of '09, and it has been tough here. They take privaledges (which are posted in Reef Points) away daily, and weekends are pretty much out of the question. In addition, as you have probably heard, Youngster Year was made worse as well. So, the challenge will be tougher, which means the people who deserve to be here the most and will make good officers will stick it out. If anyone has any questions about ANYTHING, just drop me a line and I'll be happy to answer. Remember, next year I'll be a Youngster (you'll learn in time that we're the "nice" ones), so don't be afraid to ask for help or about whatever you need. Good Luck and don't give up now.

P.S. - On a side note, I know many of you love the uniforms here, but as a plebe (a new requirement is having to wear your uniform until after TAPS which is at 11pm for most companies) you will DESPISE summer whites! I know you don't believe me, but just wait, and you'll see for yourself...

i've heard a great deal about the sudden changes the dant is trying to make...i heard about the uniforms after TAPS as well...is there any reason why? and if he's talking 'old academy,' are they deciding to go back to the 'attrition' policy?

...these changes are worrying me, a lot of changes in a short amount of time in a school with such a legacy and history.....when you look back on historical accounts, lots of decsions + short time + no reasons = trouble.

why the sudden and immediate change? btw, thank you gonavy87 for all the advice and insight you've given us applicants!

Any LOAs out there for 2010 class yet?

You really shouldn't worry too much. It's not changing from the norm, it's going back to it. These past few years, the academy was way to relaxed. They say the class of '08 were basically Youngsters half way through the year. Unfortunately for them, they are now under strict control. They actually call themselves "Plebes First Class" lol. Anyway, it's not something to worry over because when you get here, you won't know any different to begin with. That's the way it is for my class. I never knew a different set of rules, so this is just normal for me, still tough, but normal. Plus, as long as you keep performing, things aren't so bad.

Our daughter got an email from our BGO today - the BGO guys sounds more excited than I think we are at this point....but he told us that he called back to the Academy folk to check and learned her application went before the Admissions Board today and that she was found to be Academically Qualified. We are pleased that our BGO is such a great advocate - but we know this is only one more piece in the long chain of events leading to that big "A" envelope in the mail. But this is kinda nice to know. I guess today was another Admissions Board meeting for the rest of you out there. No LOA's are out yet either - he also told us for everyone who keeps checking their mail.God's continued blessings and endurance for all - candidates and the proud families who support this journey!!

Our BGO contacted Jake yesterday and said the same thing. The BGO thought that it meant Jake was triple qualified now. He asked for his detailed results on the CFA that he took at NASS. He said that it might mean he is in "the hopper for an LOA" but isn't sure of anything. Who knows! My son isn't checking the mail because there is so much to do with school, homecoming, college apps, and nomination stuff.

GINA!!! hey girl haha...I just found this site (it's so fun)...oh yeah this is KC. Bravo 2-3 what? We are amazing (best squad ever). SS session 2 was ridiculously amazing!

For those of you who don't know me, my name is KC. I live in Vienna, VA. I want to play soccer for the Academy! I am completely finished with my application so now I am sitting back and waiting.

Good luck to everybody applying, class of 2010 rocks :) GO NAVY BEAT ARMY

Gordo2010, wut school do you go to. I live in Dallas now but I just moved from Alexandria and I went to Gonzaga in DC

I go to Flint Hill School in Oakton

aight, i know where that is

hey KC!!! I sent u a PM....Bravo 2-3!!!

Our son received the same news from his BGO that he was deemed Academically Qualified by the Admisions Board. So does anyone know what impact this has on receiving an Offer? By chance, come April, are we still going to be waiting?

Being deemed "academically qualified" is just one step in the process, albeit a good one. You also need to pass the physical exam and physical fitness test to become what is termed Triple-Q or triple qualified. You still need a nomination to be selected. Good luck this is a step in the right direction.

I struggled back and forth last year, trying to figure out what all this qualified business is. In truth, it just means that you are qualified to compete. It is not really a "good" thing. It basically says that you're not too redicilously far away from acceptable standards, and that they are willing to see your application. As I learned last year, getting qualified has nothing to do with selection. I was triple-Q in October and didn't get my appointment until March. They said my application wasn't even looked at until around Feb.

I have a question. Our daughter - as we now know ( but wasn't a surprise, knowing her grades/SAT/class rank, etc. before she ever applied) is academically qualified. She passed CFT at NASS this June - so we know she is physically qualified. Due to the fact that she sees 20/25 in one eye and 20/15 in the other, her medical condition on the DoDMERB reads: "waiverable"....does this mean she isn't going to be rated "Triple Qualified?" Anyone know the answer to this one?? And if she isn't Triple Q....how big a deal is all this???

Peskmom, While she isn't triple qualified (yet), I believe that she is still eligible for an LOA. However, my knowlege is not worth too much!
