I’m currently a freshman girl here at Uconn, have really high ambitions, and I have to say the first year is rough. Not only for the adjustment, but finding people/friends. I am considering joining a sorority, but I don’t know if its the best thing for me considering I want to make it into med school. Don’t get me wrong I would LOVE being in a sorority, but I would also prefer having a social life and good friends without having to pay a lot of money, and the time commitment. I guess I was just wondering if there are girls out there that had the same problem as me, and what they did to fix it.

This is a thread from 2007, but I’d be happy to respond to you specifically.

Are you in ANY student organizations? If not, I would suggest getting involved. You will meet people who are interested in the same types of things you are. Last time I looked, there were over 400 student organizations on campus…
