livin' in a Van

I know this will sound laughable but, I was thinking about living in a van while going to school and I wanted to know if this would be at all possible at UCLA. I hear parking sucks and I was thinking would it be possible to get a parking permit and do this at UCLA? Any response would be great!

i guess it's possible to live in a van. haha, but parking does suck around here. parking permits have already been issued for fall and way past the sign up date. you could try asking someone with an apt if they're not using their parking space, if you can just take that off their hands.

I heard it was illegal to live in a car/van?

It is indeed illegal to live inside of a vehical.

still, i don't think you would get caught if you were discreet about it.

it's illegal? really? haha. don't a lot of people do it though, sorta..

thinks of Chris Farley

^You know I thought of the Van down by the river as well!

This thread is legendary.

Can't get a parking permit w/out an address. Not Possible (for so many reasons, but there's one).

10 char...

you know i think i know that girl who said she was thinking about living in a van at berkeley. She was in my classes at cc and went to automotive school to convert her van to diesel then converted it to run on peanut oil...a true blood hippie she is...

i dont think anyone could read that title and not think chris farley...true classic

My boyfriend lived in a volkswagon van while going to architecture school in Santa Monica. The showering was a little difficult...otherwise it worked out okay for a couple of years~!

I think you have too much time on your hands.

Was she a Chemical Engineering major?

I was thinking about living a Volkswagen Van too. And I was also thinking that I could just pay someone for me to use their address to get a permit. thanks for the comments!

Why would living in a van be "illegal"? What could you possibly be arrested for? In the real world, I highly doubt that would happen. I think you'd be surprised how many people live out of motor homes/mobile residences.

I'm guessing it probably wouldn't be allowed at UCLA because there aren't facilities to serve people who would do this (like showers and stuff like a campground would have) and they want to be sure students are living in an environment thats suitable for learning, etc.

flospy: no...just a nerd.
