Living at North Quad 2011-12

I am an admitted UMich transfer student and I'll be starting in fall 2011. I just selected a room in North Quad for next year - I have a double in a four-person suite. (I'm a girl, by the way.) Housing for transfer students is NOT guaranteed, so I feel really lucky to have not only gotten ANY university housing, but to have gotten a room in an awesome dorm like North Quad!

I have been attending Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti for the past two years, but I live in Ann Arbor so I've been commuting. This will be my first time living away from home, and I had a few questions:

-Are the four-person suites nice at North Quad?
-Is living with that many roommates easy? I'm generally really relaxed and personable and friendly!
-What is the dining like at North Quad?
-I know most people start to live off-campus by junior year, but since I've never lived in a dorm, I really wanted that experience - since North Quad is mostly upper-level undergrads, will it be weird to be living there as a junior?
-What's the general community like? I know some halls, like South Quad, are often really close-knit and the halls are often really close groups of friends by the end of the year.
-When do I find out who my roommate/suitemates are?

Any other advice about North Quad, residential life at UMich, or dorm living in general would be greatly appreciated!

^^It’s so new I doubt you will hear much about it. In the meantime, congrats!

A friend lives there so i go there very often. 4 person suites are like mini apartments, they’re pretty amazing,

the only thing i can think of is bathroom issues. Some people are disgusting…

It has really good food, except its always busy, and crowded. Food is good though.

No, most people live there are soph/juniors. My friend is returning next yr as a junior.

The halls are not as social as markley’s, but i’m sure if you’re friendly enough you’ll make some pretty good friends with them
