North Quad? Help me decide! (thanks so much!)

Hi guys!
I'm currently an upperclassmen here and I was fortunate enough to get housing in North Quad for next year. My room is a double in a four person suite. At first when I found out a while ago, I was so excited - the building is fantastic, the rooms are nice and mostly upperclassmen live there, so I would be right at home.

However, a couple of months have passed and I find myself thinking perhaps this may not be the best choice for me (although I do want to live here!). I've had a pretty rough couple of years dorming (but this had more to do with my roommate, our completely different sleeping schedules and the rather anti-social nature of my halls)

Since I'm apart of a program, I'm not too worried about community bonding. But I live one an entirely different floor than the floor where my program is located. I really want a great social and community bonding experience, and I'm afraid because I'm way up from the program floors that I'll be socially isolated. Also, I've been to North Quad a few times and the halls seem pretty quiet. Is NQ anti-social in any sense?

Another reason why I'm a bit hesitant is because of I'll have a roommate. I usually get along very well with others, but when it comes down to sleeping and getting a good night's rest, I am a VERY light sleeper and will easily wake up to any noise, sounds, light etc. I know I can coordinate something with my roommate, but my past experiences haven't been too awesome.

I guess what I'm trying to say is: I know NQ is a great place to live, but I'm not sure if I should go for it. I want to meet new people, form close friendships and live in a community (and on top of that get a good night's sleep), but I don't know if NQ (especially since I'm not on the same floor as my program) will help me there.

My gut's telling me to go for it, but I'm still hesitant. Does anyone have any advice? I can potentially reassign this to someone I know right now, so I need to make a decision. Thanks so much to all who read this!

NQ is an upperclassmen dorm so most people living there already has a group of friends. It’s not hard to make friends with your neighbors but it’ll be difficult to find close friends. I’ve been to NQ very often, and I dont get the community bonding feeling much. Most people just keep their doors closed. The place is definitely nice though. It’s fairly quiet at night and the dining hall is amazing.
