Living in Lothrop Hall

I will be living in Lothrop Hall for my sophomore year at Pitt and I'd like to hear what people have to say about it; what should I expect? I've never actually been inside. I'm in a room facing the inside of the building. Anything you have to say regarding temperature, lighting, the sink (is there a medicine cabinet?), the size, the wifi (can you get it anywhere?), the overall building layout, the lounges (tvs?), etc? I'm trying to plan ahead for move-in, I'm just so excited to go back. Thanks!

I’m a sophomore nursing student. I spent my freshmen yr in Lothrop on floor 13 in the Nursing LLC. It’s really pretty nice. At first, it’s a big adjustment getting used to hearing the helicopters all the time; after a while you sort of forget they’re there, and they won’t bother you. The first month or so it brutally hot (at least on the upper floors), but then it cools down to a normal temp (unless you’re high up; on 13, I had my fan on and window open all the time mostly. The closet space is really deep so that’s super nice for storage. There is a light in the area near the sink/closet and another in the main area, but I had a desk lamp for when I wanted softer lighting. The sink is small, but it really is nice for those small things like being able to brush your teeth in your own space. The showers and toilets are communal. There is a medicine cabinet and a small shelf near the sink. There is a big mirror on the wall in the main area of the room. The room is about 8 feet wide and 12 feet long, plus the 4x4 area over near the sink. The wifi is good if you are within a room or two from the lounge near the elevators. Otherwise you may need to use ethernet. However, if I recall correctly, they were working on installing wifi all down the halls near the end of last year. Any other questions?

Thanks so much!! I just wish there were more pictures online of the inside of Lothrop. I lived on a high floor of Holland last year so I figure a low floor of Lothrop has to be better for that first month or two haha. I wish I did have more questions because that was super helpful! I guess just how were the males and females split last year? I heard it was by wing but I’m pretty sure my floor is all female. I know guys on 3, girls on 5, and girls on 12 so we’re all a bit confused about how it’s organized haha.
