I am starting at Brown in the Falll and I recently found out that I’ll be living in North Wayland…can any current/former students tell me anything about what living in Wayland is like? Thanks!

Former waylander (05-06, unit war champions, senior unit war runner ups due to corrupt judges). It’s incredible. You’re on wriston quad right next to the ratty and the greek houses and you’re across the street from the main green. There’s really no better location on campus. It’s the standard double rooms with single sex communal bathrooms down the hall. There are also some singles scattered about which have the RCs and random upperclassmen. There are suites on the top floor - also upperclassmen. Room 329 I believe is the one with access into the clock tower although I believe that’s been welded shut. My roommate and I managed to arrange our room without lofting our beds and still have room for a couch in the middle - it meant very little walking around space but having a couch to sit on while watching TV and playing video games or hanging out made our room an amazing space.

The only downside to wayland is that during winter break your room is used by winter athletes who have to remain on campus. Because of this, your closet has a door that you can lock to keep your stuff in it and you have to somewhat pack up your room in preparation for whoever is staying there whereas the rest of campus can just leave their rooms as is.

Be happy you are not in Perkins… I lived there last year. Thank god they no longer put freshman there. It is a pretty bad dorm. BUT the people are amazing.

I’ll be living in Diman! basically neighbors.
