I'm from Chicago and applied as a screenwriting major. I read that 30% of students are out of state that attend LMU which brought me to wonder: are people friendly and welcoming or do they stick to their cliques and what they are familiar with? And while we're on the topic of people, would you say people at LMU are work focused or party focused? Thanks for filling me in- I love the programs here, I'm just worried about fitting in as I'm used to blizzards and not earthquakes.

Hi. I am a freshman from Philly. I know a number of people who are from Chicago, New York, Texas, etc. My point is that not everyone you meet is from California and most that you do meet still aren’t in LA. From what I’ve noticed, there are cliques but it’s not like Mean Girls where you can’t be friends with them. A lot of people say first semester is rough but then it picks up socially. I’m going back tomorrow for the start of Spring semester so I can’t speak for how things are gonna go this semester. My first semester was good but not as fun as I thought it was gonna be. However, I know people who had an amazing first half so it really just depends. I would say that there is a heavy party scene at LMU but then again there are definitely people who don’t, if thats not what you’re into. Its not like parties divide anyone; they’re there if you need them if not, no one will care if you don’t go lol. Umm dont know if there is anything else to say but if you have any other questions let me know. Oh, screenwriting is a good major, the film school is really popular so I’d stick with that if I were you.
