Hi! Just wondering if local high school applicants get any sort of priority for the SDSU direct nursing entry?
Yes, but your stats need to be competitive. You don’t get in just because you are local.
I have no solid facts, but based on the competitiveness of the direct admit nursing program, I would say no. According to the website, SDSU admissions does rank the applicants but it does not specify the criteria on how the ranking is done. I did an informal study of the EI’s thresholds for acceptances and for Nursing, the lowest EI posted on CC for an acceptance this year was a 4322 SAT/1070 ACT while the highest was 4528/1172. These stats are only based on posted EI’s from CC posters so a small sampling and none posting were considered local. With these numbers in mind, I also saw a rejected EI of 1090 ACT and Waitlisted at 4670/4790 SAT & 1140 ACT, so basically all over the place number’s wise.
I would all nursing admissions to see they are willing to answer your question and would love to have you post their answer.
Unfortunately, no. Attended a presentation at open house couple of weeks ago. They literally just do a calculation of gpa and sat/act and take the top 365 of 4000 applicants (that was the case in 2015)
