had a brief look on the "what are my chances" posts, 90% of them have YALE EA and 80% have better stats/ecs than me...

Whatever you do, do NOT compare yourself with the people who post "what are my chances messages". I try to look at those as little as possible because all they do intimidate me. Just focus on yourself. Getting into college is more than just scores.

y17k, bear in mind that anyone can post anything on these boards and some of those stats might be fake/puffed up in the first place...the people i've seen on here are generally way above to avg. test score vaules for HYP.

No kidding, I look at these people and I just think "Well, looks like i'll be living in a cardboard box for the rest of my life!"

Just don't get discouraged - remember there will always be someone better than you, but you'll always be better than someone else :)

i feel the same way y17k! looking at those posts just add pressure anyway. Plus, I think it's pointless for people to even make those posts because no one can tell you whetehr you will get in or not- it really is a crap shoot (as someone said on a different post, you could fit one min and not the other)

I really like your philosophy thescathach

Hrm...i just checked on the "what are my chances"...it doesn't look like many, if any at all, have Yale EA...where did you see all that?

ivyboy- just leafing through what are my chances especially for my background (asian) most people seemed to have yale/harvard ea..

anywayz i went to the old CC Yale board archives and looked at the deferral/rejection from last year... its unbelievable. I can count 34 people with 1500+ SATs/super GPAs rejected, and i havent even finished. Only a handful of CCers got in last year EA T.T

well, good luck to us all

i think that CCers are in GENERAL uhh less sociable than other applicants, and i think that this perceived lack of socialability may impact their "image" on paper (the application.....of course, i have no basis to make this assumption, but i will nyway lol....so, even the CCers with superior stats to the average person may be rejected for a reason other 1500+ strong GPA/ECs may not be rejected: the CCer applicants belong to a "geeky" college admissions board.....o and by the way, nilyaran is totally correct in saying that the people on these boards have wayyyy better stats than the average applicant.....most CCers have a prstats.com page, and if you look at the prstats SAT averages, they are well above national averages
good luck to everyone that applied early!

I'm on CC and i'm still a social butterfly. I manage to go out every friday and saturday night (Sunday is usually my homework day). But CC is like a nice long free therapy session. Haha

ivyboy - i am the same way....i party (drink and get with girls) every saturday night and stay out every friday night with just guy friends....so i mean, there ARE exceptions to the generalization i mentioned...still, i think that in general i am correct in saying that CCers are geekier than the average high school junior/senior...agreed?

Guys, you don't need to PROVE anything...
