My boyfriend and I have been going out for almost a year now and we’re probably going to end up in schools that are, at most, about 12-13 hours apart.
I dont know about college life a lot so I wanted to ask if there realistically ìs time to visit each other during the semester. Like how often and all that.(ex. Every weekend? Once a month?)
Also please dont tell me that LDRs wont work:( I’m not confident about the relationship either but I want it to last as long as possible.
Mine is a lot closer than that and ends up being about once a month or once every six weeks. I am not sure how you would even manage traveling that distance so often – shell out for a plane ticket every week? Drive the 12 hours, spend a few hours there, then turn around and come straight back?
Get very comfortable with Skype.
When I was in a LDR of about 3 hours, we saw each other every 4-6 weeks or so. 12 hours… I don’t think you’d be able to fit in anything more than Thanksgiving and Christmas. Think about it, how on earth are you going to travel 24 hours round trip every weekend? It isn’t so hard to figure this out realistically.
S and his gf of three years will be 12 hours apart. The plan is Thanksgiving and Christmas. They would like it to work but have decided that both can date other people and they will see if it lasts. They have still seen each other every day since this decision was made but it gives them both the opportunity to grow and see what else is out there. Traveling back and forth with difficult schedules and the necessity to keep high grades for scholarships makes seeing each other more often out of the question.
