Long-distance relationships

How common are long-distance relationships at Davidson? I have a boyfriend at another school several hours away. Is it realistic to expect to have time to visit him for a weekend on fairly regular basis (probably about once a month)?

While I was at Davidson, I had a boyfriend at Columbia and it was very difficult. When he came to visit, everyone was very nice. There were many girls on my freshman hall with long-distance boyfriends and while some crumbled right away, others lasted almost through the year. Long distance happens at Davidson and other schools, but to be honest many don't make it, and you may never really feel connected to the school if your tied up with someone else. That being said, I know people from my highschool, one at BC and one at Duke and they are still together. I say go for it...but do so cautiously and best of luck.

I started off with a long distance relationship but I quickly decided that I couldn't manage it. I have friends on my hall though that are still going, at least in part. I think that long distance is hard in general but especially when you are adjusting to a new place and tons of new people. Best of luck!
