Hello all, I had a rough time in the beginning of high school, believe it or not i had a 1.2 gpa at the end of my sophomore year. My mom and I decided it was time to change schools and I now have a 2.3 GPA at the end of my junior year, I had all A’s and one B. This summer I am taking an online college course at ucla and I plan on taking all honors next year and getting all A’s. I have a 29 ACT. Should I even bother applying to colleges or should I go straight to community college and plan on transferring?
Depends. There are definately schools who would value you. But would you value them. If not cc and transfer is a good idea too.
You could consider taking a gap year, so that you’d have your full high school record considered. On the other hand, if you live in a state where going to a CC and getting high grades for two years guarantees transfer into a good public four-year school, that seems like a surer option.
Of course, there’s no real downside to applying to schools this fall. You could definitely get into some schools, but if none of them are good enough for you in terms of quality or cost, you can just do something else.
