Looking for honest feedback

I’m writing an appeal letter for an admission decision. It’s roughly 500 words and I would like some feedback.

Thank you,

More details are needed. What school is this for?

It’s an appeal letter for undergraduate admission at University of California, Irvine. I feel like I’ve reread it so many times during the editing process that I’m no longer capable of looking at it impartially.

A quick synopsis, my case is built around how the military impacted my academics and my desire to pursue research as an undergraduate.

UCI says:

For a Freshman or Transfer appeal to have merit, it must bring to light new academic and personal information, as well as information pertaining to extenuating circumstances that had not been present in the application, and that clearly shows the student to be stronger than had been earlier evidenced. Please note: high grades received in the senior year, recently acquired awards, or an increase in activities are not a basis for the reversal of a decision.

Due to the amount of paperwork received by the office and also the ongoing appeal review process, any paperwork submitted separately WILL NOT be merged with the original appeal for review. Faxes, e-mails or incomplete packets will not be reviewed by the committee.

Is this the case for you?
Did the military not forward your paperwork? then you might have a chance.
Did taking classes at on-base schools limit what you could do? then you probably don’t.

Yes, this is the case. I hear what you’re saying and I understand it’ll be a long shot.

After some careful thought and consideration, I figured it’d still be worth my time. I’ve already written the letter and plan to submit it. I’d appreciate some critique, if for no other reason than to improve my writing skills.

I’m still interested in receiving some feedback. Even if its only a brief impression.
