Looking for HQ Economics/Political Science Programs?

Hello,

I am currently attending a top 125 university and am extremely disappointed with its Economics and Political Science programs. I am especially upset with the Economics department because, unlike PoliSci, I can't learn Economics by myself and need a good program to back up my independent studying. With that being said, I'm looking to transfer...but I don't know of any affordable schools (by affordable, I mean I can't pay more than $25k/year) with good programs that have at least a 20% acceptance rate. My un-weighted HS GPA was a 3.63 (math classes killed me) with APs, my college GPA will be around a 3.9 over 18 credits, 1870 SAT (690W, 610CR, 570M) and I have always been heavily involved in extracurriculars. I'm a NJ resident.

In short...are there any affordable colleges with A.) good PoliSci and Economics programs B.) at least a 20% acceptance rate C.) cost less than $25k/year that I can get into? I'm going to apply to Georgetown, Cornell, and UPenn, but you know how their admission processes go...

I feel like I'm in a hole because I am such an intellectually curious person and a very hard worker, yet my HS stats and SAT score are hindering me from getting into a college that fits my learning expectations.

Thanks for your help!

You’ve been able to judge the entire econ dept in three months? According to your post history that’s about how long you’ve been in college.

Yes, I have. I know it sounds pretentious, but I’ve sat in on a few other classes at the 1000, 2000, and 3000 level … all of which have certainly not met my expectations.
